Godsend
Godsend is the story of Alex McKendrick, a teenager with a special ability—he can see dark shapes enveloping people oppressed by demons.
Alex, like so many of the youth of today, is somewhat aimless. He goes to church with his mom, but is not actively engaged. Alex is confronted by Sariel, an Archangel who trains Athleta Christi (Champions of Christ). These Godly warriors enter the spiritual realm and battle the forces of evil. Alex is bewildered and resistant at first, but Sariel insists that God has called him. When he and his friends are savagely attacked by demons, Alex agrees to undergo Spiritual training and to become an Athleta Christi.
Alistiar Cain, a powerful demon masquerading as an award-winning CEO, has constructed a portal to allow demons to flood from hell into our world. He will use all the evil forces at his disposal to see his plot fulfilled.
Will Alex be able to stop him? Will the young man continue his training and become a strong warrior for God? Will he remain faithful, even if it means risking his mother’s life?
Godsend is a fast-paced novel of 90,000 words. It is written in an edgy style that will appeal to the youth of today. The book has been edited and field tested. I have read it aloud to my sixth grade students the last two years. I have never seen kids more involved in a story. Every day they begged me to keep reading and told me they would definitely buy the book when it was published.
Jeremy Apodaca developed the story concept and Michael Apodaca wrote and edited the novel. Godsend is Michael's third book. He has a Masters degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. This is his twenty-fifth year teaching public school. I am well aware of the tastes of young readers. This book is a hit.
